I’ve never done a juice cleanse before, and based on some reviews I’ve heard from my friends, I wanted to give this “juice cleanse” thing a try. After some research on Google, I decided that I wanted to try the Pulp & Press Green Cleanse. It’s a 3-day cleanse, and you get 5 juices + 1 smoothie each day, all green! I was a bit scared to try this whole cleanse thing because I had never done one before, but the reviews calmed my nerves and convinced me this was a great cleanse to start with.
So I’ll be writing this day by day, as sort of a “documentary” post through my journey with my first juice cleanse!

I was super excited to start this yesterday!! I started with my first juice at 9 a.m. and then had 1 every 2-3 hours until 10 p.m. last night. There were some interesting flavours but nothing I hated! The first one in the morning had a bit of a kick to it as one of the ingredients was jalapeño.
Throughout the day, I found myself habitually heading to the fridge to get something to eat, and not because I physically felt hungry, but just because I was bored at that moment and felt like something to munch on. This was lesson #1! Sometimes we truly AREN’T hungry and we’re just bored! I was so sure that I was going to feel hungry at some point but between the juices, the water, and the herbal tea… I honestly felt fine all day, I even went for a run in the morning to kick start this juice cleanse.
When it came time for me to head to bed, I was so ready to wind down (I had a really long day yesterday too) and it surprisingly didn’t take me long to fall asleep. It normally takes me maaaybe 30 minutes to drift off into a sweet slumber, but not last night! And by how I’m feeling this morning, I could have used a little extra sleep…
I woke up this morning feeling a little groggy, even though I had read reviews that the second day normally provides a lot of clarity and focus. I’m not sure if it’s because I worked late, or maybe the fact that I went off coffee cold turkey, or maybe just dehydrated from overnight. We’ll see how the rest of this day goes. I’m trying a couple of new juices today including one that has activated charcoal as an ingredient… hmm…

….. so bad news everybody, by 2:30 p.m. I couldn’t take my headache anymore. I was so tired and lethargic, I broke my cleanse and ate food. My headache was gone within half an hour, my mood was up, I wasn’t AS tired and felt human again. I opted for some fresh food I had in my fridge and ate just a little to start with, but before I realized, I was basically scarfing down all the fresh fruits and veggies I had (and some spicy shrimp.. lol). I don’t know what it was but as soon as I ate actual food, my body wanted a lot of it!
Soooo… I guess the juice cleanse isn’t for me. I have read so many great reviews and heard great things from people but my body did not respond properly and I’m not sure why. I’m glad I tried this out, of course! That was the whole point. I’m sad I didn’t finish right until the end… maybe someday? 🙂
